Closed runway lighting

SOLLAU is renowned designer, manufacturer and supplier of the products for magnetic separation in various industries and airport runway maintenance products like airport magnetic sweepers and lighted closed runway lighting (runway closure markers).

REASONS FOR USE OF THE RUNWAY CLOSURE MARKERS

  • Summer operation – rubber removal, retexturing or demarking
  • Winter operation – removal of snow or slush
  • Planned repairs or failures of the runway AGL system
  • Runway or taxiway construction works
  • Aircraft or vehicle accidents
  • Other

The closed runway lighting (lighted runway closure markers) is highly efficient airport safety equipment for temporary closing of the runway or taxiway, and a much better solution for any airport than the conventional polyester (plastic) markers.

SOLLAU RCM 13, the mobile X lighted runway closure marker, was designed in order to provide the international airports an easy to operate, economic and powerful safety equipment to illuminate temporarily inoperable airport runways and taxiways in accordance with applicable regulations.

It represents a premium solution for CLOSED RUNWAY LIGHTING, not just for the European international airports but worldwide, since it is compliant to meet ICAO draft requirements and it also highly exceeds the existing performance requirements of the FAA regulations.

NOTE: The FAA requirements of Advisory Circulary 150_5345_55a – FAA became the basis for the design of RCM 13 closure marker device. It further allows for easy extension of the marker arms and other modifications in other to comply with the draft ICAO regulation – Proposal for the Amendment of Annex 14, Volume I and PANS – Aerodromes (Doc 9981) relating to aerodrome design and operations. ICAO plans to have the lighted closure markers as required equipment.

ADVANTGES OF SOLLAU CLOSURE MARKER RCM 13

  • Fast assembly time using single person in 1 minute (folding, unfolding of arms of the X marker) / in 2 minutes (in case of stabilization legs). Hydraulics for unfolding is optional.
  • UNRIVALLED: Over 30 % more powerful in peak values (Cd) than the FAA requirement

NOTE: The maximum daily intensity can be increased using extra 40 % of power without overheating of the individual lights and shortening of the lifespan.

  • Unique photometrics of the Czech made lamps for a great “in-landing visibility” – optimal course of the photometric curve for the purposes of this type of device – see it enclosed.
  • High simplicity of use and long lifespan of the LED lights and chassis (heavy-duty).
  • UNRIVALLED: Highly modular product – from basic model installed on a ground (no trailer) powered from batteries to a high end solution powered from power generator and carrying set of S4GA portable solar obstruction lights

EVIDENCE-BASED SOLUTION

We have submitted the device to a series of ground and in-flight testing. Visibility and X shape discernibility is further commented in the attachment.

We offer 3 basic models:

SET OF BATTERIES

UNRIVALLED: AGL POWER GRID CONNECTIVITY (from 6,6A using customized Sollau regulator)

All end customers will achieve unique customized solution for lighted X markers:

Such connectivity will give the 4 great benefits in one:

1] safe a lot of money at the moment of purchase

2] safe operating and maintenance costs during life span

3] acquire option for extensive runway maintenance works where fuel consumption or charging of the batteries is unconvenient

4] power independent from environment (very high or low temperatures may affect performance of engine or batteries)
